Does Profile Links Still Work

You all must have heard about profile links. Yes right links on different forums and other websites. Some internet marketers like Angela, Paul and others sell monthly link packets for a little price.

Now question arise, does these links work anymore and help in organic rankings, the answers is YES in my opinion.

How can I say so?

I have seen many Squidoo and Hubpages ranking for a very competitive keyword on either page one or page two of Google.
First I though to present a case study taking and example of Squidoo or Hubpage, but then I decided not to do the same, as I do not want to ruin someone else work and SEO efforts.

So I will just present my findings here.

Let us take an example of a mild competitive keyword when searched in Google, it returns 1700k competitive pages.

It is a two word keyphrase and related with gaming niche.

When I checked the ranking a Squidoo lens is at the top position on Google and a website with exact match domain is ranking on number 9.

After checking backlinks of this lens, I found that the lens had nearly all backlinks from profiles and some spammy blog commenting.

So which factors helped this lens to rank of number one position.

  • First thing as Squidoo is an authority website, so it helped it to rank high.
  • The second thing it has lot of backlinks from profile pages and blog commenting.

So in first instance it shows that profile backlinks really help.

I have a plan to create and Squidoo lens and a Hubpage, for some mild competitive keyword and will do all backlinks from only profile pages and study the result.

I will keep you all updated on this. :)
